Digital Society Institute cooperating with University of Maryland

The Digital Society Institute (DSI) at ESMT Berlin and the Center for Public Policy and Private Enterprise (CPPPE) at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The cooperation agreement entails joint research activities, an exchange of scholars, and the exchange of scholarly publications over the course of five years. Furthermore, the institutions have agreed to exchange faculty members and students for research, teaching, and study programs and to collaborate on events.

The first such event is the Digital Society Conference “Empowering Ecosystems” on December 10-11, 2018 at ESMT Berlin. At the event, international experts will discuss new developments in security and privacy, digital politics, and industrial strategies as well as the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

David Mussington, Director of the CPPPE, said: “I am delighted to initiate our collaboration at this meeting, and to be addressing such an important and timely subject.”

Sandro Gaycken, Director of the Digital Society Institute, commented: “We are very happy to engage with such an established research facility and look forward to our cooperation.”
