ESMT receives AACSB accreditation
- High quality of MBA programs recognized
- International accreditation confirms sustainable development of ESMT
ESMT European School of Management and Technology has been internationally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Only ten years after its founding and six years after the first intake of the full-time MBA class, the international business school based in Berlin has received another top accreditation for business schools.
The AACSB accreditation focuses on the quality of the school’s faculty in teaching and research, the consistency of the school’s programs with its mission, and the achievement of learning outcomes promised to the school’s students. It also certifies that the school’s strategic development is sustainable and appropriately resourced.
ESMT has now been awarded two important accreditations, having received the AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditation in 2009. “ESMT’s development has been extremely positive. This successful accreditation shows the high quality to which ESMT is committed,” said Dr. Clemens Börsig, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Deutsche Bank AG and the ESMT Supervisory Board. ESMT launched its MBA program in 2006. The current class is the largest and most international to-date and is made up of 41 students from 24 countries. Additionally, 81 students are enrolled in the Executive MBA program at ESMT.
“This important accreditation mirrors ESMT’s achievements in attracting world class faculty to the school,” said Prof. Jörg Rocholl, President of ESMT and Ernst & Young Chair in Governance and Compliance. ESMT’s international faculty consists of 32 members from 19 nations. The recently published Research & Development Annual Report 2011 shows ESMT’s high level of research productivity and impact. In comparison to the previous year, ESMT increased its research productivity significantly; in 2011 ESMT faculty published 24 peer-reviewed articles in influential international academic journals, as well as eleven books.
Only eight schools in Germany have been awarded the AACSB accreditation since AACSB’s founding in 1916. ESMT is currently one of only two business schools in Germany to hold accreditations from both AACSB and AMBA. Every school applying for AACSB accreditation must pass through a multi-stage process culminating in a three day audit that evaluates not only the faculty’s qualifications and contributions and its programs, but also the school’s mission and operations. AACSB thereby ensures that the accredited business schools provide top-quality education.
Note: Only ESMT and Mannheim Business School have both AMBA and AACSB accreditations so far in Germany (See mbaworld.com AMBA website).
ESMT European School of Management and Technology was founded in October 2002 by 25 leading global companies and institutions. The international business school offers a full-time MBA, an executive MBA, and open enrollment and customized executive education programs. ESMT focuses on three main topics: leadership and social responsibility, European competitiveness, and the management of technology. Additionally the business school provides an interdisciplinary platform for discourse between politics, business, and academia. ESMT is based in Berlin, Germany, with an additional campus in Schloss Gracht near Cologne, where USW Netzwerk runs the German-speaking executive education programs of the business school. ESMT is a private business school, accredited by the German state, AACSB, AMBA, and FIBAA.
