Fifth ESMT Annual Forum: Leading Across Generations

  •     High-level discussion on future challenges in human resources
  •     Mario Monti receives ESMT Responsible Leadership Award

The 5th ESMT Annual Forum begins today at 2:30 p.m. at ESMT European School of Management and Technology in Berlin. In cooperation with the International Leadership Association (ILA), opinion leaders from business, academia, and politics are coming together to discuss the challenges of "Leading Across Generations”.

At 5:45 p.m. ESMT will honor Mario Monti, President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Italy, with the ESMT Responsible Leadership Award. “I am particularly proud to receive this award from ESMT, which since its founding has made the teaching the principles of responsible leadership to future business leaders an integral part of its mission,” said Mario Monti. Wolfgang Schäuble, German Federal Minister of Finance, will hold the laudatory speech. Mario Monti is the third recipient after Co-Founder and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies N.R. Narayana Murthy in 2010 and Güler Sabancı, Chairman and Managing Director of Turkey’s Sabancı Holding, in 2011.

At the ESMT Annual Forum June 13-15, ESMT is bringing together experts from around the world to discuss solutions to the challenges of demographic change. Executives of leading global companies and renowned academics will discuss with practical experts in 18 sessions on topics including lifelong learning, workplace structures, mentoring and coaching, and the retention and motivation of employees.

Michael Diekmann, Chairman of the Board of Management, Allianz SE, and Chairman of the ESMT Foundation Board of Trustees, comments, “Neither business nor individuals can cope with the challenges of demographic change alone. Viable solutions can only be developed in conjunction with long-term policy to ensure our competitive position in a globalized world economy.”

Keynote speakers at this year’s ESMT Annual Forum include Michael Diekmann (Allianz SE), Thomas Sattelberger (Deutsche Telekom AG), Michael W. Hodin (Global Coalition on Aging), Charles O'Reilly (Stanford Graduate School of Business) and Matthew Bothner (ESMT). Two main panels focus on the areas of “The Executive Perspective on Leading Organizations with a Multigenerational Workforce” and “Instilling Sustainability Practices in Multigenerational Leaders”. ESMT extends special thanks to Infosys in the context of the 5th Annual Forum. The program is also kindly supported by GAZPROM Germania.
