ESMT Berlin offers scholarships for women in IT leadership positions

Across industries, women are underrepresented in IT roles, particularly in leadership positions. To help in addressing the deficit, ESMT Berlin is offering two partial scholarships for the business school’s IT Leadership Program (ITL), each valued at EUR 4,450.

One of the scholarships is provided in cooperation with the 30% Club, a worldwide initiative for gender equality aiming to increase the number of women in management positions. The application deadline is September 30, 2017.

Director of the ITL Program at ESMT, Prof. Joe Peppard, says, “It is widely recognized that women are underrepresented in IT positions at all levels in both public and private sector organizations. The problem is particularly acute at senior executive levels; few women ever make it to chief information officer (CIO) or chief digital officer (CDO) roles.”

The ITL Program is delivered over three modules and seeks to develop the leadership capability of aspiring CIOs and CDOs. The underpinning philosophy of this program is that CIOs and IT Directors are first and foremost business leaders, albeit with special responsibilities for IT and digital.
