ESMT Berlin to launch Coding Boot Camp in partnership with Trilogy Education

ESMT Berlin today announced the launch of a coding boot camp, the first in Europe launched in partnership with leading workforce accelerator Trilogy Education.

Geared toward adult learners and working professionals, the ESMT Berlin Coding Boot Camp teaches the front-end and back-end skills necessary to become a proficient full stack developer.

The 24-week, part-time program begins Tuesday, July 9, with two three-hour evening classes during the week (6:30 to 9:30 p.m.) and a four-hour class on Saturdays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Enrollment is now open at bootcamp.esmt.org.

“As demand for technology skills explodes across Europe, we realized that Berlin has limited options for working professionals who want to learn these skills,” said Nick Barniville, Associate Dean of Degree Programs at ESMT. “Trilogy Education works with many of the world’s top universities to power intensive, skills-based training programs proven to help people of all backgrounds start careers in tech. Through this partnership, the ESMT Berlin Coding Boot Camp will give local professionals best-in-class technical instruction and career coaching to ensure they are positioned to be part of Berlin’s growing digital economy.”

As Berlin’s tech scene grows, employers are hungry for job-ready talent. McKinsey estimates that the city’s tech industry will generate 100,000 new jobs by 2020, and the competition for technology workers across Europe is fierce. A study by the European Commission found that 40 percent of European companies report difficulty finding tech talent.

“The ESMT Berlin Coding Boot Camp will be rigorous, but at the end, graduates will have an impressive set of skills and a portfolio of work to help them jump start careers in tech," says Dan Sommer, CEO and founder of Trilogy Education. "As our first partner in Europe, ESMT Berlin joins a network of world-class universities. Together, we’ll deliver a high-quality, career-oriented program that quickly adapts to the needs of the job market.”

Trilogy Education powers hundreds of intensive learning programs in high-demand tech fields in partnership with over 40 leading universities globally including Harvard Extension, Columbia Engineering, University of Toronto, University of Sydney, and Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Pairing ESMT’s strengths with Trilogy’s market-driven coding and career curriculum offers students both the competence and confidence to succeed in the technology industry. The program’s curriculum covers the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure plus intensive training in Java, JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery and more. No previous training or experience is required, but applicants should have an understanding of coding basics.

In addition to classroom instruction, students will spend 20 hours a week on outside projects, homework, and experiential learning activities. They will also build a professional project portfolio to showcase their abilities and hone their competitive edge in the employment market. Additionally, students will receive a range of career-planning services, portfolio reviews, recruiting assistance and extensive staff support.

Boot camp students will gain skills to develop dynamic end-to-end web applications, as well as receive a Certificate in Full-Stack Web Development from ESMT.
